My name is Christy. I'm 14 years old. I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Odom and the International staff for allowing me the opportunity to represent South Carolina. It is an honor to be Miss Teen South Carolina International 2008 and have the chance to speak out about something that is dear to my heart..... Drinking and Driving Awareness.
I am a regular voluteer at the local K.A.R.E. I also enjoy volunteering at the United Way, Relay for Life, Fundraiser for Hurrican Relief and Mittens Tree for the less fortunate. My true passion however is to spread the word of "GODD" (Go Designated Driver). I have enjoyed speaking to my school, friends and family members about the importance of making sure that they "Pass on the Keys" when or if they are impaired. Teaming up with MADD has given me the opportunity to educate others about this deadly disease.
Throughout my entire life I have been interested in the Arts. I am currently a high school freshman and I am the President of Student Council, Cheerleading Captain, Basketball Captain and involved in art, drama, band and track. I am also a member of the National Honor Society, FCA, United States Acheivement Academy and a Kolar Scholar. I was honored with the "Omega Kappa Writing Award", "What America Means to Me", "Patriotism" and "Who's Who Among High School Students". I will be graduating in 2012. My future plans are to attend Clemson University.
I am looking forward to the national competition this summer and meeting all the girls from around the world. I can't wait to make new "BFFL".
