Ansley Funes
1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
“Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. It means to look up, see the beauty around you and believe that dreams can come true. This is my grandfather’s favorite song and I honored him by singing and playing the Ukulele at his funeral. My other grandfather was born and raised in Hawaii and loves the Hawaiian culture. This song brings my family close and sends a message to look and see the beauty around us.
2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
My mom has taught me to be a champion stylist-on-a-budget. I shop a lot online at ASOS and Lulu’s. While I’m out on the town, I go to Macy’s, H&M and Nordstrom.
3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
Once there was a man who proposed to a beautiful blonde woman at 5,790 feet. My mom said yes and, every year since, The Funes family has hiked at Zion’s National Park to the top of Angels Landing. They say it’s one of the world’s most renowned hikes with the most breathtaking views. I believe it’s because two of the greatest people in this world chose to be together forever.
4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
I love being out in nature and snapping a picturesque sunset, of which I have over 100. My lovely Utah is loaded with nature trails that go from one city to the next. I love having a hiking trail outside my front door. I can be hiking, on rollerblades or on a long board all day in the sunshine. Who knew working out for hours at a time could be so much fun.
