Miss Teen Texas International®

Jahnavi Muppaneni

What Superhero would you like to be and why?
1. I moved from Hyderabad, India, to the United States when I was about five years old. I have had the opportunity to live in London and New York for a while before I moved to my current home in The Woodlands, Texas. I can say for a fact that everythings bigger in Texas, especially the heart and pride of Texans!

What according to you is a true friend?
2. What I instantly loved about America was how it is a melting pot of different cultures and ethnicities. Even though my native language is Telugu, I learned to be fluent in English when I was seven years old. I am blessed to have been brought up by a rich Indian heritage while having the chance to learn more about American culture. Its like getting the best of both worlds!

How do you handle criticism?
3. In high school, I had the opportunity to be a part of and lead various activities including DECA, Dance, Model United Nations, Junior State of America, and Theatre. I also discovered my passion, giving back to the veteran community, when I became a Junior Volunteer for the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs. In addition, I assist the veterans alongside the American Legion Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations.

When was the last time you tried something new?
4. I will be graduating from The Woodlands College Park High School this June with honors and I will be attending the University of Texas at Austin in the fall. Currently, I am enrolled in UTs Moody School of Communication and I plan on majoring in Human Resources with a minor in Finance. During my undergraduate study, I will strive to reach my childhood dream Harvard Law School.

Do you think crying is a sign of weakness or strength?
5. Being Miss Teen Texas International has been a journey of experience, knowledge, and self-discovery for me. I get to try things I've never done before, learn more in depth about problems facing society, and learn more about myself every day. I gained a new perspective on community service and aside from my platform Salute to Veterans, I worked with the Giving Gown Foundation, Run for Hope, and several cultural organizations.
