Kelsey Riley
1. What kind of BARBIE do you think you’d be?
Voice. Everyone has a voice. We often forget to use it.
After traveling to Kenya, I realized that I need to be a
voice for those who can not speak, the children. Every
14 seconds a child in Africa loses a parent to AIDS.
Speak up, make a difference.
2. What’s the weirdest item you keep by your bed?
I think any woman’s beauty secret is her smile. It
brightens her face and conveys a sense of joy. A
smile means you are approachable and confident. It
displays on the outside what is on the inside. It is
the perfect accessory to a positive attitude.
3. What cartoon character do you relate to the most and why?
I take the most pride in my family’s work in Kenya. We work with HIV/AIDS orphans. We have worked in school feeding programs and school supply programs. My proudest moment was when my brother, sister and I were able to give the Abandoned Baby Center a check for $4,500.
4. Would you time travel to the past or future?
My favorite day is Thursday. My dad doesn’t usually have
to work late and it is my sister’s day off. We watch our
favorite TV shows. It’s a nice break in the middle of the
week to relax and be with my family.
5. How would your parents describe your personality?
I wouldn’t call it a good luck charm but a reminder. It
is my purity ring my parents gave me. It is a standard I
have set for myself. It reminds me of my value as a
woman and to never compromise my beliefs and to
live with no regrets.
