Blair Wortsmith - Miss Teen International 2014

1. What kind of BARBIE do you think you’d be?
1. My sophomore year I was selected to represent my school at the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership seminar. HOBY is one of the nation’s foremost leadership development organizations. It focuses on our global youth community with student participants from 18,000 cities and 75 countries. I was honored to return this year and be selected as a junior counselor. These experiences help me discover my leadership potential and embrace the importance of volunteering throughout the world.

2. What’s the weirdest item you keep by your bed?
2. Believe it or not, I am a certified open water scuba diver. When I was in seventh grade my dad surprised me with scuba diving lessons. At first, I was terrified and very reluctant to trust the oxygen tank. I also had to get my certification in a really dark lake. (Claustrophobic!!!) Thankfully I overcame my fears and passed my open water dive. I would highly recommend everyone trying this exhilarating sport! AMAZING!

3. What cartoon character do you relate to the most and why?
3. I have participated in several teen outreach programs designed for students interested in careers in the medical field. Through the “Perry Initiative” and “HEALERS Program” I had the opportunity to dissect a human brain. (Oh yes I did!) I spent three days in an emergency room, networked with professionals and observed doctors working with their patients. I was inspired, challenged and motivated. Dr. Blair “Wortsmith” has a great ring to it don’t you think?

4. Would you time travel to the past or future?
4. I was born to very active parents. From an early age I learned the importance of exercising and striving to be physically fit. I was able to try most every outdoor sport and be a competitive dance squad member. Making healthy choices and finding what works for you is so important. I am currently a state Ambassador for the NFL’s Play 60 movement and working in conjunction with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

5. How would your parents describe your personality?
5. My school was a part of our country’s growth in 1957. By attending historical Little Rock Central High School, I have learned to celebrate diversity, develop a heart for service and posses a strong desire to make a difference in the world. I am participating as a leader in school based clubs and organizations, volunteering in my community and being a part of a new generation paying it forward.
